When we talk about job training, what we’re really talking about is changing lives.

For eligible candidates, training in an in-demand career can be an opportunity to get a foot in the door in a new industry and set course for uncharted waters. With training comes the potential for higher earnings, job retention, and career growth.

We’re proud to say that 297 job seekers in Southwest Washington were awarded a job training scholarship in 2024 by WorkSource. This amounted to a total of $575,661 spent on our customers’ job training.

Training though is only one half of what WorkSource does for its customers. Many job seekers have barriers to employment that can prevent them from returning to work. This is where WorkSource support services come in.

Support services can assist with removing a wide range of barriers. WorkSource often supports eligible customers with gas assistance, tools, clothes for the job, or childcare subsidies so that they can not only start their job but keep it too.

In 2024, we’re proud to say that we paid $146,440 in support services to aid WorkSource customers.

There are 260 workdays in a year. That means, from Monday to Friday, at least one WorkSource customer in Southwest Washington was awarded a life changing scholarship per day. If you’re interested in learning more about how WorkSource can help you change or advance in your career, attend our Employment and Training Orientation to learn more about training scholarships and eligibility.
