Hiring events are a powerful resource for job seekers, but are you making full use of them? Read on for everything you need to know before you go. (Hint: bring your resume.)

Looking for work is never easy but hiring events can be excellent networking opportunities. A job fair is an ideal way to sample a wide range of employers in a single setting and make efficient progress on your job search.

Here are four reasons why you should consider attending our next WorkSource hiring event.

1. The employers

You can spend weeks, if not much longer, exploring all your potential career options. But at a hiring event, you have a large spread right at your fingertips. For example, at the WorkSource hiring event in Kelso, there will be at least 24 employers in attendance. This means there are at least 24 chances to find the perfect career fit.

Employers will be present, ready to look at resumes, answer questions, and share information about their companies—so come dressed professionally with a good elevator pitch. For those of us who want to make the best use of our time, it’s hard to beat. Don’t discount the resource this represents, as many attendees end up finding promising job prospects.

WorkSource packs a lot of value into a single event, so always keep an eye out and take note of who will be in attendance. You never know, it might be your new boss.

2. Varied postings

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for skilled labor or an entry-level position. Hiring events attract employers in need of a wide range of skillsets.

At the Kelso Hiring Event, you can expect positions in:

  • Automotive
  • Manufacturing and Production
  • Skilled Labor
  • Customer Service
  • Office Support
  • Caregiving/CNA
  • Hospitality and Food Service
  • Education

From hands-on types to office workers, there’s more needs represented at our hiring events than you think. Don’t discount any employer because you think they aren’t hiring for your skillset; you might be surprised by what they need.

3. It’s Free

Job hunting can be expensive. It can cost for training, transportation, and time. All of these (especially the latter) are hot commodities. If you can save time and money on your job search, why wouldn’t you?

What a lot of people don’t realize is that job fairs are free. They’re resources available to anyone looking for work, and therefore they represent an ideal way to make the most of your time and money.

So, if you decide to come to our hiring event, bring your resume and make the most of it. It’s one of the most efficient job search activities you can do.

4. Get involved with WorkSource

Broadly, what WorkSource offers breaks down into three categories: Job Training, Resources, and Support Services. These each have different meanings, but they all have the same end-goal—to get you hired.

While you’re at our hiring event, drop into the center and ask what WorkSource can do for you. We’re excited to help you toward a better future.

Our next hiring event is on August 9th, from 11am-1pm at WorkSource in Kelso.
